The gestureYou bend the D on the 3rd string until it becomes E, while holding the 2nd string steady on E. The same note twice — one fixed, one arriving: in between, half a second of friction.
Target noteThe fifth. You’re already on it — it doesn’t resolve elsewhere. A cell that declares, not one that concludes.
Over which chordAnywhere in the progression: the 5th is a common tone between I and V, neutral over IV.
The rhythmOn the strong beat, held. It makes no sense played as sixteenths.
Common mistakeA flat bend: you land at 90 cents and beat against the fixed note. It’s the best intonation exercise there is, because the error is audible instantly.
