Degrees involvedNo new degree: it acts on the note that's already there.
The gestureRepeated micro-bends with the wrist, not the fingers. The motion starts from the forearm; the hand rotates around the thumb.
Target noteThe note you're already on: the vibrato turns it from a held note into a deliberate one.
Over which chordAnywhere, but it only makes sense on stable notes (1, 5, ♭3). On a passing note it's a contradiction.
The rhythmDelayed. The note starts still and the vibrato enters afterward -- half a beat, a full beat. Entering right away is the beginner's signature.
Common mistakeGuitar vibrato rises, it doesn't swing around the note: the fretted pitch is the floor. Imitating violin vibrato dips below pitch and sounds flat. A second mistake: nervous, irregular speed, disconnected from the tune's tempo.
