The gestureThe whole hand shifts three frets. The sliding note is the musical excuse for a position change.
Target noteThe ♭3 at the 8th fret, which in box 2 sits under the index finger: you arrive already set up to continue.
Over which chordAnywhere.
The rhythmThe slide steals time from the departure note, not the arrival note. The destination has to land on the beat.
Common mistakeSliding with the wrong finger: with the ring finger you arrive at the 8th fret still in box 1's shape, and you're stuck, because the new box needs the index finger there. This cell is judged by where it leaves you, not by how it sounds.
